Imperial have secured the final spot in the South American division of ESL One: Road to Rio after besting paiN 2-0 in the Play-in match.
Caio "zqkS" Fonseca's troops will take TeamOne's spot in the four-team competition after outclassing paiN, who looked a far cry from the team won had won six domestic titles in 2019.
At first, it looked like it would be business as usual for paiN, who had announced plans to move to Canada to continue their development before the coronavirus outbreak became an issue. They romped to a 7-1 lead on the Terrorist side of Inferno after losing the pistol round before Imperial tightened up. Only one round separated the two teams at the break, and Imperial carried that form into their T side to pick up a surprisingly easy victory.
Imperial's bright afternoon continued on their map pick of Train, where they amassed nine rounds on the T side after constantly keeping the paiN defense in check. Vinicios "PKL" Coelho's charges looked inspired after the break as they restored parity at 10-10, but then Imperial put their foot down and held back the Terrorists for another dominant win.
