Dzhami "⁠Jame⁠" Ali and company have their Major campaign halted in the quarter-finals.

The first game at the Avicii Arena has concluded, seeing HEROIC take down Virtus.pro 2-1 to book themselves a ticket to the semi-final of PGL Major Stockholm. René "⁠TeSeS⁠" Madsen performed consistently across the series while captain Casper "⁠cadiaN⁠" Møller produced crucial rounds that enabled the Danes to defeat some very persistent opponents.

"We played really well fundamentally but we messed up some rounds on Ancient and we ended up losing that one," explained Ismail "⁠refrezh⁠" Ali in the post-match interview. "We knew that in weapon rounds we could outplay them and we had a really good read on them and we showed that on Inferno."

HEROIC will face the winner of the match between G2 and Ninjas in Pyjamas on Saturday.

Heroic have secured a top 4 spot at the Major

The first playoff match got started on Virtus.pro's map pick of Mirage. Converting the first pistol round gave cadiaN's boys an early 5-1 edge before the signature slow T rounds from Virtus.pro allowed the CIS squad to take the lead from an exasperated defense. Great performances from Martin "⁠stavn⁠" Lund and refrezh throughout the half were key for HEROIC retaking an 8-7 lead before halftime.

Rasmus "⁠sjuush⁠" Beck coming alive on the offensive half was just what the doctor ordered for HEROIC as the Danes began running away with the game, dropping only three rounds on their way to steal the map 16-10.

Ancient gave us another close 8-7 half. Both sides were level 5-5 before a breathtaking 1v3 from refrezh with the Deagle gave HEROIC the lead, seemingly breaking the CIS defense in the process. Virtus.pro were not stopped though, instead shutting down any attempts from the Danes to run away with the half with three consecutive rounds before another incredible clutch, this time from stavn, was able to limit HEROIC's deficit to 7-8.

Despite HEROIC stringing together five in a row on the CT side, they were never able to break Virtus.pro as Timur "⁠buster⁠" Tulepov and Jame refused to go down quietly, leading the way in a great T side to close the map 16-13.

The two teams met on inferno to decide the series. cadiaN came to life on the CT side, hitting several crucial shots to give HEROIC the early round advantage. The rounds Virtus.pro were able to collect were mostly due to HEROIC mistakes or moments of brilliance from individuals like Mareks "⁠YEKINDAR⁠" Gaļinskis, leaving the CIS side facing a 6-9 deficit going into the second half.

The second half saw Virtus.pro falter under the pressure. Despite winning the pistol round, the CIS squad were unable to create a lead while some uncharacteristic misses from Jame gave the opportunity for HEROIC to run away with it. A brief winning streak just delayed the inevitable as the Danes took Inferno 16-12 and the series 2-1.
